Supporting your Christian meditation practice is a core component of our ministry.  Having strong support is the key to creating a vibrant meditation practice.  There are many benefits to meditating with a group and all of our sessions are done in the comfort of your own home.  Our sessions help provide the motivation you need to take you from occasional meditation to lifestyle meditation.

Meet Our Facilitators

Teresa Yerkes is married and has three children and six grandchildren. She is an avid reader and loves spending time with family and friends. She has been a Christian since 1983 and has practiced Christian meditation since 2000 and has taught others since 2010. Teresa is the founder of the Christian Meditation Center.

Her approach is a simple one. She focuses our inward gaze towards our Center–the Kingdom of God, with our hearts full of love and adoration for our Lord. You will sit in silence and stillness, opening your heart, soul, and mind to God to do whatever is needed so you can be more like Him. You will focus on your breath when you find your attention has moved to your thoughts. Most people feel peaceful when the meditation is over.

Vicki Simek is married and has two adult children. She loves to cook, read, work with her dogs and spend time with family and friends. Vicki was a member of the CMC board from 2012 – 2016. She grew up Catholic and has found a richer experience in her relationship with Christ after being introduced to Christian meditation in 2005.

Vicki will initially guide you through a Christ-centered meditation and then very gently, set you down in silence and peace to rest in God.  Her meditation will remind you that God goes with you wherever you go.  Its lasting effects will carry you through the day.

Monica Armstrong is a mom, spiritual director, and visual artist who loves creating images with paint that express the Divine Presence in all creation. She digs spending time in the garden or with her good dog and a good book.  Her meditation practice began 30 years ago, then deepened from training with a teacher 12 years ago during cancer recovery.

She values the gift of meditation to enable the body, mind, and soul to open to the Presence of God in the moment. Meditation is a time to encounter the generosity of our Creator, the companionship of Christ Jesus, and the inspiration and Wisdom of the Holy Spirit. This practice brings many people renewed energy and restoration of their spirit.

Monica will open each session with a Christ-centered meditation as a threshold leading to silence and inner rest in the Presence of God.

Nadine Mack is a follower of the Christ, married for 25 years, and a momma to three daughters ages twenty-one to nine years old.  She coaches Girls On The Run for third, fourth and fifth graders for the past 8 years where a lesson and practice on the power of stillness and visualization occurs.  Nadine’s journey to share and facilitate Christian meditation matured during the Covid-19 pandemic where she transitioned from member to facilitator of online meditation with the Christian Meditation Center.

Nadine has found this Thomas Merton quote to be an inspiring reminder of the power that stillness and meditation bring to all moments, including the difficult, the joy-filled, and the everyday.

“There is only one problem which all my existence, my peace, and my happiness [growth] depend:  to discover myself in discovering God.  If I find God [Him] I will find myself and if I find my true self I will find God [Him.]

Nadine prays that your practice will open you to finding your true self and experience God’s loving you to your core as you are right now. It’s about trusting God loves you unconditionally.

Leigh “Lili” McCarthy met Jesus and was reborn in 2002, since that time her personal meditation practice has been Christ-centered. She believes that is the most beneficial of all meditation styles, and that little brings us closer to our Lord than time in stillness with Him. Her favorite style of meditation is imaginative, inserting herself as a present observer within the pages of The Gospels. You can expect she will lead you into quiet heart-centered meditation with a bit of imagery and Scripture.

Lili lives in Oregon with her husband, dogs, cat, hamster, and many fish! Her two adult children live in Australia and California. She volunteers with the local food pantry, Christian radio station, pregnancy Center, and works in private practice as a somatic psychotherapist.  She enjoys spending time in her vegetable and flower gardens, her favorite place to meditate is swaying in the hammock in her backyard!

Lili is a registered Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction facilitator, certified meditation teacher, and she teaches mindfulness and meditation at the university and community college, to both students and faculty.

Leah Chrest has been studying Christian meditation for seven years and is the creator of a Christian meditation YouTube channel, where she provides guided meditations for new meditators.  She enjoys leading meditators into resting in the love of God at the heart center and allowing the Holy Spirit to speak into that silent, still place.
