Discerning God’s will through prayer will bring us closer to the heart of God and strengthen our relationship with Him.  This study will provide a foundation on how you can discern the will of God in your life.

Join us on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 from 7 – 8 p.m. ET  After you register, we will send you the Zoom meeting link to attend.  There is no cost to attend.

Discernment had always been a mystery to me. I remember when I first became a Christian and the Pastor would talk about having the gift of the Spirit of discernment. The message always left me with this uncertainty about how I would know what God wanted me to do. As I was growing in my faith, there was one time in particular I thought for sure that God was leading me in one direction and then to find out it didn’t quite work out the way I thought God wanted it. Of course, my assumption on how I wanted it to work out was the same way God wanted it to work out too. This became a major disappointment to me and I felt lost and confused for many years to follow.

Yet looking back, it is easy to see where and how God was leading me in the situation and I have gained tremendous insight from the experience. However, as a young Christian I could have used Rose Mary Dougherty’s discernment advice. In her book Discernment, she shares her reflections on the topic, “What is important for me is the transformation to which I give myself as I engage in the decision process. I am learning that there is not a single, universal process for me. For now it seems to involve waiting, trusting that what I need will be given me when I need it. To do other than wait would be unfaithful.” She also tells us, “There is a place deep inside me where I am with God. I must return to that place time and time again to sense what is called for in any given moment. Eventually, it won’t be a matter of returning there. I will live there.”
