In a world of constant unknowns, deciding where to put our faith is crucial to maintaining our inner peace.  The Bible tells us to be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.  Praying supports our desire to deepen our relationship with our Lord.   Whether you are a beginner or a prayer warrior, there are many ways, waiting to be discovered, on how we can approach the throne of grace.

The First Church Prayer Group will meet the first Monday of the month beginning on January 7, 2020 from 7 – 8 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Williamstown in the Social Hall.  Each month, we will introduce a new type of prayer found in Richard Foster’s book, Prayer: Finding the Heart’s True Home.  The format of the meeting will begin with a brief lesson on a type of prayer and then we will spend time practicing the prayer.  After we have prayed, we will journal our experience and then breakout into small groups to share our experiences.  This will allow everyone to have an opportunity to teach and learn.

Richard Foster’s book has twenty-one chapters, so it will take two years to complete.  No meetings are scheduled for July and August.  A certificate of completion will be given to those who attend at least twelve classes.
